'Pappadeaux' is a seafood kitchen largely inspired by New Orleans cuisine, it is one of several 'Pappa' restaurants including 'Pappasito's Cantina' and 'Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse'. I was recently advised to eat at 'Pappadeaux' for an event. I went on a busy Saturday night with a couple of friends.

When we arrived, the restaurant was completely packed with a line out of the door. We were looking at a hour and forty-five minuet wait, which turned out to be one hour and thirty minutes. After being seated our waiter greeted us after approximately 2 minutes. He was very warm and friendly, but also a little disoriented given the circumstances. Our questions regarding the menu were all answered appropriately and clearly.
The table ordered the 'Fried Calamari' , which came with a lemon aioli. The calamari came out exceptionally fast. It was to die for, the best calamari I've had to date. It was hot, tasted fresh, and seasoned to perfection, the lemon aioli made it that much better.

I ordered the 'Pasta Mardi Gras' which was described as " linguine tossed with crawfish, Andouille sausage & crimini mushrooms in a marinara cream sauce topped with jumbo grilled shrimp". Now I must say I am not a fan of marinara sauce but my waiter explained to me that it was mixed in a wine based cream sauce, so I gave it a try.

When the dish came, the presentation was appealing to say the least. The pasta could have been much warmer, it was just barely above room temperature. Upon my first bite I was a bit disappointed. The mixture of the acidic tomato sauce and the heavy creamy did not sit will with me. It felt like the flavors were competing with each other instead of complementing each other. However, the sausage, shrimp and mushroom where excellent.

Overall:
The hospitality was outstanding, not one staff member had a frown on their face despite the overwhelming circumstances, and each went out of their way to smile. Although the quality of the seafood was noteworthy, the prices where overzealous, especially since the majority of the menu was deep fried. I was pleasantly surprised at the ambiance of the restaurant, and how I felt as if I could've been in a restaurant in New Orleans. 'Pappas' definitely mastered their theme.
